22. Keane Wonder
Some damage to the undercarriage could result if the road is not traveled with caution. The rest of the road is not bad, a typical dirt road 2WD. (Not recommended for 2WD at this time.)

23. Lemoigne Canyon
Access is on the north side of CA19O, 6 miles west of Stovepipe Wells. Road is extremely rough crossing on alluvial fan with numerous washes. Travel requires high clearance 4WD only and mainly low gear with short wheel base. It is 4.4 miles from CA19O to the mouth of Lemoigne Canyon. Full size 4WD vehicles cannot continue up wash because of large boulders.

24. Lippencott Road (Saline Valley access Road)Very steep, narrow, winding and rough cliff edge washouts. All traffic requires 4WD and high clearance. This road is not maintained and is not recommended for travel. Experienced 4x4 is advised. Inside Death Valley there is a washed out 2.5 mile section of very dangerous road. 3 miles outside park OK. Uphill traffic has "right of way".

25. Mahogany Flat
Above the Charcoal Kilns the road narrows and grade increases. It is not recommended for motor homes or other large vehicles. Above Thorndike Campground the road becomes rough, narrow and very steep. It is passable to high clearance vehicles, weather permitting. The last turn around point is at Thorndike Campground. Generally closed from sometime in November until sometime in March due to snow and ice. 4WD may be necessary depending on weather and road condition. May be rougher in flood runoff channels. Sedans risk damage to undercarriage from large rocks. Road is in good condition at this time. Recommend slow speed to prevent tire damage.

26. Marble Canyon
Recommended for smaller 4WD vehicles. Scattered loose gravel stretches and occasional large rocks in vehicle tracks. About 2.5 miles up the canyon walls narrow to allow passage of smaller, military jeep body style vehicles only (standard pick-up trucks, blazers, etc. are too wide.) Road continues for another mile to an impassable dry waterfall.

27. Mosaic Canyon
Access is via CA19O 1/10 mile west of stovepipe wells. Signs barely visible from road in either direction. Road is passable by 2WD vehicles. Surface is a washboard texture. Road is 2.2 miles to the mouth of the canyon. No camping. Designated day use area.

28. Natural Bridge
This road is very rough and steep. All types of vehicles have been seen on this road, but it is very slow and rough with many rocks.

29. Owl Hole Spring Road
The road is occasionally graded by a private mining operation. Generally in good condition. Stay well away from military reservation boundary and private mines.

30. Phinney Canyon
Very steep and rough during the last 3.5 miles but is passable to 4x4s with high clearance. Road is narrow in places because of extending pinion pine branches, road is narrowed further by recent rock fall in gorge section
