The festivities started with the usual attitude adjustment hour. Much of the conversation centered around the beautiful display of original Mountain Art Serigraphs by our own Edna Erspamer. Some attendees purchased serigraphs to enhance their art collection and Edna graciously donated ten percent of the sales to the DPS treasury. Approximately 85 members and guests enjoyed an excellent boned cornish game hen (chicken) dinner. Betty Wallin again designed the program at each place setting. Her artist's rendering of the Desert Big Horn Sheep - our symbol - is a DPS tradition. Vi also expressed her thanks for Edna Erspamer's serigraphs of familiar Desert Peaks and to Betty McCosker for her banquet table decorations. As usual list finishers, then emblem holders rose about 5% were the former and half were emblem holders. Sid Davis donated $100 to the DPS treasury in honor of his planned 500th climb of Mt. San Jacinto. He invited us to join him on October 9 for this event. As always, the door prize and raffle drawing is a major event. There were many anxious people because Doug Mantle sold tickets totaling $114. Mike Manchester ran the raffle in its usual inimitable fashion. Barbara Reber won the door prize - of a pair of Easy Walker boots from Sports Chalet in La Canada. The following won raffle prizes: |
