CHAIRLADY'S CORNER

The ChairAnd so it is that our term for the 1981-1982 Management Committee has ended with the Season. But wait, there are some higher elevation peaks to be climbed during early summer and at least a couple of members are staying on to give management continuity. I would like to reiterate my thanks to Ron Bartell, Art Blauvelt, Jon Lutz and Mary Sue Miller for their great cooperation in taking care of the business of the Section. It was a very tranquil term, but you can look for things to happen that are being passed on to successors for the 1982-1983 term - these are activities that required the attention of the old management committee and will continue to require it under the new. By necessity, Council has mandated revision and conformity of bylaws of all groups in order to bring them into line and compliance with the Club's amendments to its Articles and Bylaws. Our bylaws will require some adjustments of which the membership, through publication, will become aware of. Also, our peaks list has 93 listed peaks and with the prospect of a proposal for the addition of Virgin Peak, it might be voted to make it 94.

With the assistance of Bill Bradley and Art Blauvelt, on behalf of the Section, Management made an all-out effort to conduct a membership recruiting drive aimed at BMTC'ers to show to otherwise unaware newcomers the pleasurable outings that the desert offers. The summer is a more or less dormant season for DPS, but we look forward to the results of the project by fall.

Well, so-long -- and thanks for the memories!

Happy
Outings!
