1958: Chairman - Dick Kenyon

31 climbed Kofa in January, led by Peter Hunt. Tom, Trudie, and Peter Hunt led 43 up a dry Rabbit in March. July 4th trip to Whee1er Peak, leaders Dick Kenyon and Bob Bear First scheduled DPS climb of Picacho del Diablo via Canyon Diablo, Bill Sanders and Peter Hunt led 14 of 16 to summit.

1959: Chairman - Ralph Merten

Emblem requirements raised to 15 peaks, including Kofa as fifth mandatory peak. Tragedy in May - Burl Parkinson and Francis Foley lost lives in blizzard near summit of Boundary after reaching Montgomery to earn emblem. Andy Smatko led Labor Day climb of Mt. Dubois, 12 reached top 40-plus enjoyed Tom and Trudie Hunt's Thanksgiving trip to Guadalupe Canyon in Baja California.

1960: Chairman - Walt Wheelock

DPS qualifying list reached 52 peaks. Over 50 followed Hunts to Guadalupe and Carrizo Canyons in Baja over Thanksgiving. "Fried Rabbit trip led by Peter Hunt in March, 12 reached summit in scorching heat. 15 on Boundary and Montgomery with Cliff Myers and Bill Utterback.

1961: Chairman Harry Melts

53 in White Mts to see Bristlecone Pines under leadership of Hugh Parshall. Labor Day trip to far-away Jefferson drew only 6. Bylaws revised. Annual instead of Triennial banquet voted.

1962: Chairman - John Robinson (62~63*)

Managemcnt Committee terms changed from calender to fiscal year. Walt Wheelock pub1ished Desert Peak's Guide, Part 1. Qualifying peaks reached 56. First Annua1 Banquet at Dinnerhorn in Covina, Dr. Walter Taylor spoke on: "The Fragile Desert". Bob Greenawalt's Hi-Lo Panamint traverse bus trip attracted 36 on downhill jaunt from Telescope to Death Valley. Bob also led 18 on Labor Day "Grand Tour of Northern Whites" - Dubois, Montgomery, Boundary.
