DPS Newsletter

CHAIRMAN'S COLUMN Trudie Hunt

An enthusiastic group met November 7th to conduct the business of the Section. A $10.00 donation was made to the Desert Protective Council the only group concerned primarily with the conservation problems in the desert area. Their fine newsletter, El Paisane is edited by Randall Henderson, dean of southwest deserts. One dollar brings you the newsletter and additional dollars and their conservation efforts. Checks should be sent to our own Bob Bear, 38591 Florence, Beaumont.

An ambitious spring schedule of two monthly trips was planned. The DPS really ranges far afield these days. The spring will see us traveling to Mummy Mountain near Las Vegas on the east to El Major in Baja California on the south and to the Mono Craters on the north.

Do you have your 1964 calendar handy? If not it will still be easy to remember April Fools Day, and to set it aside for your section. For on this day Neko Colevins has arranged a festive annual banquet with the finest of steaks at Rudi's. And for our enjoyment and edification we will have guest speaker, Dr Richard Logan of the U.C.L.A. Geography Department, whose courses on California mountains and deserts "play" to full houses throughout Southern California.
