I would Like to point out that a recent informative publication: "Inner Canyon Hiking" (1963 ed.), describing the old trails is obtainable free from the Superintendent of Grand Canyon National Park. After reading this booklet about the variety of interesting trails in the canyon, it is difficult to understand why the NPS has not maintained some of those scenic routes, especially in view of the fact that the Kaibab-Bright Angel Trail is so overused. Lack of funds is probably the reason, but the cost should be relatively low for maintaining at least some of these old trails. --Harry Melts
