geology of the high point of Baja California, Big Picacho.

Wednesday
Karen Leonard, a great photographer and narrator, will show
her slides of her trip to Asia last summer. The topic is "Road Warriors on the
Silk Route and the origins of Mughal Civilization,"
TREASURER'S REPORT

McDermott For the period 6/1/94 through 8/31/94, DPS had income of
$249.20 and expenses of $992.39 for an ending balance of $4457.72. Expenses
were heavy this period because of publication of the Sage and purchase of 10
list finish pins plus several copies of the Desert Peak Guide and Peaks List.
Our account has been changed to accrue interest (at less than 2% we won't spend
it in one place). |

LEADERSHIP TRAINING COURSE
AVAILABLE Registration is underway for the Angeles Chapter's Leadership
Training Course, a program to prepare Chapter members to be qualified Sierra
Club outings leaders. The course begins with an all-day seminar to be held at
the Griffith Park Ranger Station on Saturday, October 15, 1994.
All
applicants must be Sierra Club members and have participated in at least five
Club hikes or trips.
Club members wishing to enroll in the course
should send a self-addressed, stamped business-size envelope to Alice Danta,
LTC Registrar, 12452 Woodlawn Avenue. Tustin, CA 92680-2435. Completed
application forms must be returned to the Registrar not later than September
