From the beginning, the bylaws specified a Mountaineering Committee. However the records are poor as to who were committee members. Early chairs included Bill Henderson, Bob Bear and Parker Severson. The committee did much work in compiling the original "Guide to the Desert Peaks of the Southwest. In about 1970, the bylaws mandated that the Mountaineering Committee chair be the Vice Chair of the Section.
The Newsletter (now called the DESERT SAGE) was started by Chair Sill Henderson in 1950 and continued by each chair, but sometimes with irregular publication, until 1961. At that time, John Robinson became editor and the Newsletter became more professional and was published regularly. Editors:
50-60 DPS Chairs 69 Neko Colevins 74-87 Barbara Reber
61-4 John Robinson 70 Art de Goede 88-90 Anna Valkass
65-8 Bob Greenawalt 71-3 John Vitz 91-2 Ron Jones

Conservation chairs have been:
72-3 Ben Romero 76 Elliot Snyder 79 Betty Wallin 90 Jim Kilberg

75 Paul Lipsohn 78 Harry Brumer 88-9 Bill Faulkner 92 Pat Acheson

Council representatives were the elected "Other Officer" from 74 thru 83. Since then they have been appointed. Those appointed have been:
84 Mary Sue Miller 87 Maris Valkass 91 Barbara Reber
85 Art Blauvelt 88-9 Carolyn West 92 Patty Kline
86 Bill Bradley 90 Karen Leonard

A historian who kept a "scrap book" was appointed for the years 1951 thru 1960. This book disappeared for many years but may now have been found. Ron Jones was historian for 89-90 and then this job was combined with that of archivist. Bill T Russell has been archivist since 89.
An important job of recent vintage is keeper of member records by computer. Gerry Holleman did this for a number of years and Ron Bartell is doing it currently.
