Knee Problems? Paul Freiman

My knees always use to ache after a weekend of down-hills. No longer. After I observed Dave Jurasevich wearing knee supports on a hike I decided to try some. I put on the supports at the start of a downhill and no longer experience any pain.

There are several types of knee supports. The ones bought at drug stores are stretch elastic ($6.50) and are small and slip off the knee frequently. This is the type I wear because I prefer to keep them around my ankles on the uphill, then move them up to the knees on the down hills.

Sportmart has neoprene supports. These are twice as long as the stretch elastic and do not slip. They are much more supportive ($10 each).

A fancier type is also available at ortho supply stores. This is a neoprene support that velcros on over garments. Someone on the Babo trip, I believe it was Larry Tidball, had one of these.

So if you have knee-monia, here's the cure.
Good Health!
Paul
