Dear DPS,
I have long enjoyed the sociability and informality of DPS meetings which have continued through the fortunate choice of the small meeting room in the DWP building over the intimidating atmosphere of the auditorium. But in addition to the traffic congestion encountered in the vicinity, especially when the Music Center is in operation, car break-ins occur which may not necessarily always be confined to adjacent streets. It would not be difficult for walk-in automobile burglars to enter the DPS parking lot; perhaps even driving in as soon as they catch on to the password "Sierra Club Meeting". This situation certainly tends to discourage attendance at DPS meetings (those who attend meetings at Club Headquarters are far braver than I!) I believe that it may now be an appropriate time to consider holding DPS meetings outside of areas which are known to have high crime rates. In the meantime, those who attend meetings at the DWP building are hereby forewarned!
