The Desert Sage
CHAIRPERSON'S CORNER MARY SUE MILLER

Those of us who have traveled Baja California's "Thousand Mile Dream" through her magically compelling and ever diverse desert landscape have also dipped Into the warm sea that laps against her eastern shore. Who of us has not wanted more intimacy with this aquatic medium before resuming our journey through the often alkaline desert?

Dr. John McCosker of the Steinhart Aquarium in San Francisco will provide us with that opportunity when he speaks at the Desert Peaks Section annual banquet, Wednesday, May 14, 1983 on the Sea of Cortez. Dr. McCosker is well known in the world of oceanography and marine biology but is also popularly known because of his appearance on television in National Geographic specials. The DPS is honored to have him share his busy life with us. Long-time members Betty and Joe McCosker have always been special supporters of the DPS. How wonderful of them to help us secure their famous son as our speaker!
