SECOND ANNUAL RUNNING IS FOR THE BIRDS 10K FUN RUN AND 5K WALK
A 10K Fun Run and a 5K Walk will be held at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, October 17th, at the Bolsa Chica State Beach in Huntington Beach to benefit the Amigos de Bolsa Chica, a support organization for the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve which is located immediately inland of the Boise. Chica State Beach.
The event, called RUNNING IS FOR THE BIRDS, is planned as fun rather than a serious athletic event. Race prizes will win photographs of Bolsa Chica birds. A $10 entry fee includes a special design tee shirt.

DPS member Marlin Clark was out hiking last fall with some friends from the Desert Trails Association in the area of the Providence Mts. At noon, Marlin was taking a siesta under a creosote bush, when be was elected Chairman of the Death Valley Hikers Association for 1981. This means that Marlin is responsible for arranging several desert hikes this year including the overnight hike held in corijuction with the Death Valley 49'ers Encampment during November. Perhaps Marlin will invite some of his DPS cronies to enliven his hikes.
