ANNUAL PEAKS LIST CHANGE HASSLE CORNER

FOR ADDITION:

Stepladder Mtn. 2961' Stepladder Mtns., Ca.
Indianhead 3960' Borrego Palm Canyon, Ca.
Rosa Point 5038' Rabbit Peak, Ca.

FOR DELETION:

Navajo Mtn. 10,388 Navajo Mtn., Utah

EDITOR'S COMMENTS

In voting on peak additions one question comes to mind, is it a worthy peak. If we have not climbed these peaks, how do you or I know they are worthy. One recommendation for Indianhead was a good motel and restaurant are nearby. This says very little about that particular peak. Stepladder has a very poor desert road access. (See write-up in this issue of Newsletter.) Rosa Point is a long, dull, all day trip to a desert crud heap in close proximity to Rabbit Peak.

OTHER COMMENTS OR THE CASE FOR NAVAJO MOUNTAIN

PRO NAVAJO MTN.                           JON INSKEEP

Once again we are being asked to drop Navajo from our peaks list. This proposal has been turned down by the members every other year for as far back as I can remember. We should not only keep Navajo on the list, we ought to case a resolution that it not be brought up again for at least five years ////
The reasons given for taking Navajo off the list --no view from the top, road to the summit, too far away--are trivial. We have lots of good peaks in the same categories. Rabbit, an emblem peak, has no view from the top; White Mtn., a former emblem peak, has a road to the top; and Baboquivari, which ought to be an emblem peak, is far away.
