ARTICLE IV :
MEMBERSHIP
Section 1. |
Regular
members. Any member of the Sierra Club may become a member of the Desert Peaks
Section upon: (a) Climbing any six mountains on the Desert Peaks Section list
of qualifying peaks. At least three of these peaks must be climbed on scheduled
Desert Peaks Section trips. (b) Subscribing to the Section Newsletter. (c)
Making application for membership, with list of peaks climbed and dates and
Sierra Club membership number, in writing to the Section Secretary-Treasurer.
(d) Membership will be maintained so long as member subscribes to the Section
Newsletter. |
Section 2. |
Voting.
Only regular members of the Section may vote at meetings. |
Section 3. |
Qualification for office. Only regular members qualified to
vote may hold office. No Section member may hold the same office for more than
two consecutive terms, or for an unexpired term and one succeeding full term,
during a five year period. |
Section 4. |
Honorary
members. Any member of the Sierra Club who has performed outstanding service
for the Section, and who is otherwise unable to qualify for membership under
Section 1 of this article, may become an Honorary member of the Section by a
majority vote of all ballots cast at a meeting of the membership. Honorary
members shall not be entitled to hold office or to vote. |
ARTICLE V : MEETINGS
Section 1. |
Regular
meetings shall be held monthly from October through April. Section business
will be conducted at these regular meetings. Notice of regular meetings shall
be given in the Angeles Chapter Schedule. |
Section 2. |
Special
meetings. Upon written request of ten per cent of the listed membership, the
Chairman shall hold such a meeting within thirty days of the receipt of the
request. The Chairman shall direct that notice of these meeting shall be given
to each member in writing at least two weeks prior to date of such
meeting. |
Section 3. |
Ten
percent of the listed membership shall constitute a quorum for the conduct of
business at any regular or special meeting. A majority of the votes cast shall
be required for the transaction of business. |
Section 4. |
Meetings
of the Management Committee shall be held when called by the Chairman or any
three members of the Management Committee. Three members shall constitute a
quorum, and three affirmative votes shall be required for the transaction of
any business, or approval of any resolution. |
ARTICLE VI : OFFICERS
Section 1. |
The
Chairman shall preside at meetings of the Section and of the Management
Committee; shall enforce the bylaws; shall call meetings of the Management
Committee as required; shall appoint committees with the consent of the
Management Committee to plan and carry on work of the Section. |
Section 2. |
Vice-Chairman. During the absence or disability of the
Chairman, the Vice-Chairman shall act in his place; shall arrange scheduled
climbs; shall be chairman of the Mountaineering Committee. |
Section 3. |
Secretary-Treasurer. The Secretary-Treasurer shall keep an
exact record of the meetings of the Section and of the Management Committee;
shall have custody of the records of the Section; shall attend to the
correspondence under the direction of the Chairman; shall keep an accumulative
membership list of those qualified to vote at the regular and special meetings;
shall have a copy of these Bylaws and those of the Angeles |
