FROM THE
RETIRING EDITOR- -Bob Greenawalt This issue marks my graduation as Editor of your Newsletter. When I first accepted this challenge, I was determined to at least match the efforts of John Robinson's 3-1/2 year tenure. My four years has gone by entirely too fast! The success of our paper has been due only to the combined interest and cooperation of our various members as trip leaders and my thanks go to all of those people who have expressed their sentiments, now recorded in our ever-growing annals. We have only one master file of all our newsletters, which to me should be preserved with more dignity than at present. Some time ago it was suggested that this file be reproduced and stored in an alternate place. No action has been taken. This is issue #97. February of 1969 will see # 100! It is my wish that the Section will go all out on that date in the form of a centenary edition. I feel a good long newsletter, possibly done by offset printing, with stories and pictures, the like of which has never been done, is not unreal. This demands the setup of a Centenary Committee in order to fulfill this task. The edition should reach Chapter-width. This idea will stimulate now interests in our Section and especially reach the hordes of new Sierrans that are not now well aware of our spirit and doings. I am happy to have been your Editor for this period, and I hope to continue as a contributor to future issues of our official publication. |
