Nov 11 Our Second Telescope Hike with the 18th Annual Death Valley Encampment. Our Desert Peaks Section has been asked to host this climb. Dick Sykes is in command, and the hike will begin promptly at 8 AM.
Nov 23-26 Cerro de la Encantada, alias Picacho del Diablo. What better time to do this outstanding desert peak gem? As a result of last years most successful ascent, popularity demands a re-run. Ed Lane and Dick Beach will help us to the top. Start getting in gear for this great Thanksgiving adventure!
Dec 6 Wed nite. Another DPS Social, this time featuring Julius Jacyna with his Cliffs and Canyons of Southern Utah. 7:30 PM as usual.
Dec 9-10 Sykes will again perform with two low-lying Colorado Desert summits, being Big Maria and Palen Peaks in the Blythe area.
Dec 16-17 Smatko rears his head again-not with the Angels but with the Two Devils! These are carefully selected by the Dean of Desert Peaks and are just across the border en route to Las Vegas. Andy has a fistful of peaks that most of us have never even heard of!
New Years Weekend Peaks in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, planned by Gene Gall and Abe Siemens. A fine spot to be the first day in '68.
