Sierra de San pedro Martir

That PM we followed a good trail, not marked on most maps, back onto the plateau to Alcatrz, a small meadow south of La Grulla.
Tuesday we visited huge, marshy La Grulla meadow before heading back to Santa Rosa. We had hoped to climb the beautiful white granite peaks of Tres Palomas(three doves) but time wouldn't allow. The following day we descended back into devilish El Cajon by what at first seemed like a switchbacked trail, but then petered out into rocks and. brush.
The cars were reached late that afternoon, after five very full days exploring the scenic wonders of Baja's loftiest range.
Only six aggressive rattlesnakes were encountered on this trip, fortunately their vigorous rattling provided us with adequate warning.
We all want to go back, but never again by diabolical El Cajon.

"If future generations are to remember us more with gratitude than sorrow, we must achieve more than just the miracles of technology. We must also leave them a glimpse of the world as God really made it, not just as it looked when we got through with it." - Lyndon B. Johnson.
