D.P.S. MEMBERSHIP MEETING: Tuesday, June 18th, 7:30 at Chapter Headquarters.

Believe it or not, this meeting is planned to arrange for the winter schedule, November through February. Please come prepared with suggestions for Vice Chairman Abe Siemens, of trips you would like to lead or see led. We will have refreshments and show the slides you bring. Mark this date on your calendar; It is NOT in the schedule.          TH

John keeps nagging me for a PREVIEW CHAIRMAN'S COLUMN. I've been called lots of names, but this is a new one. Besides, right now I'd much rather look backward rather than ahead to future responsibilities. And in looking backward one is aware of the steady vitality of the D.P.S., the gradual increase in the variety and distribution of peaks we have scaled, the new members who have come to have a deeper love and understanding of the desert. Not a little is owed to John Robinson for his fine editorship of the DPS Newsletter, which has proved a stimulating and at the same time adhesive agent. Thanks, John, for a job well done!
