The
March National Geographic has an excellent article by Dr. Edmund Shulman on
finding Bristlecone Pines up to 4,600 years old in the White Mtns. The
Geographic is not generally sold on newsstands, but any library should have
one. The Providence Mountains are one of our best desert ranges. On the infrequent occasions when Sierra Clubbers have attempted to reach the summit, the rugged and confusing terrain has often prevented, or greatly delayed, the ascent. On March 29-30 the Hunts will expertly guide the DPS to the summit of the Providence Mountains, on a scheduled climb. I hope I'll see you there. |
