The Desert Sage
NOVEMBER 1994 **Our 54th Season** 234

A VIEW FROM THE CHAIR
by Dan Richter
The DPS season is well under way again. "Where are you going over Thanksgiving?" "What's the road like into Porter?" "Is there snow on Waucoba?" We're all making plans and looking forward to another wonderful year of climbing.

n the conservation front the Desert Bill has finally passed. I still haven't figured out what all the implications for the section are, but I think anything that preserves and protects the fragile desert ecology can't be bad.

This has been a great year for list finishes. Since the banquet we have already had six list finishers. June saw two with William G. Stevens on Waucoba and then Tina Stough who became the third woman triple list finisher on Humphreys. In July' Tom Moumblow finished on Ruby Dome and Bob Wyka finished on Wheeler. September saw Sue Wyman and Vie Henney both finish the list for the second time on Glass and the same weekend they became triple list finishers with their joint SPS finish on Morrison. Greg and Mirna Roach should finish on Spirit this November and Erik Siering is scheduled to finish in December on Little Picacho. Suzanne and Igor Mamedalin are also scheduled to finish in December on McCullough and Mountain Gods willing I may finish on East Ord in February on the Old Timers trip. Terry Flood from San Diego will finish on Orocopia in January and Wynne Benti-Zdon is shooting for April and there are rumors that George Toby and Ron Young will finish this spring on Waucoba. Whew!
The Old timers weekend will be on February 25th and 26th and besides East Ord on Sunday we'll climb Granite #1 on the Saturday. Immediate Past Chair Patty Kline will lead and I will assist (Richter continued on page 4)
