DPS Chair, Patty Kline, became the first female
recipient of the Angeles Chapter's highest outings leadership award, the
Chester Versteeg award. Several other DPS members were also given awards on
Saturday, April 9. These include Outings Service awards to Barbara Cohen and
Scott Jamison. The award dinner was held at the Brookside Country Club in the
Pasadena Arroyo Seco.
Patty joined the Sierra Club 21 years ago and
completed Leadership 'Training in 1980. She holds an "I" leader rating. She
currently leads climbing trips for the DPS, HPS and SPS and in addition has led
for Wilderness Adventures, Santa Monica Mtns Task Force and the Camera
Committee. She received a Chapter Outings Service award in 1991. Additional
Chapter service includes working on the Chapter Awards Committee, the Chapter
|
Council and Chairing the Chapter
Excom Nominating Committee.
Patty began leading outings for the Desert
Peaks Section in 1988. She served as Vice and Outings Chair in 1992-3 and
Chairlady) in 1993-4.
Patty is a DPS Emblem holder and an Emblem holder
in the HPS and SPS as well.. In the Hundred Peaks Section she has completed 100
leads, is a list finisher and was awarded the prestigious Sam Fink award at
this year's HPS banquet. She has also served the HPS as (Chair, V. Chair &
most of the Management Committee positions. She is a Past Treasurer For the SPS
and serves them this year as Treasurer.
