Angeles Chapter Council Representative's Report
May & June Meetings

The following issues were discussed they may be of interest to the section:
  • Zion National Park is off limits to scheduled Sierra Club outing as the Sierra Club is considered by the park as an "outfitter'.
  • There is a need to spice up the Southern Sierran and articles and write-ups of hikes would be appreciated.
  • The insurance is not dead. Recent coverage of river rafting trips are encouraging.
  • The Angeles Chapter has promised 50,000 signatures for CALPAW '94. Bill Oliver will be providing trip leaders with petitions.
  • The Council voted to accept minor changes to the DPS bylaws as presented. Included was a change of the DPS fiscal year to the calendar year to coincide with the Sierra Club's fiscal year.
  • During a general discussion it was noted that the majority of Sierra Club trips are not family oriented and consequently are of greater appeal to singles and older members whose children have grown.

Council Meeting, Monday July 26, 1993

Recognizing that write up formats differ, the Council formed a committee to meet with Laurie Ives and Ron Jones to develop a standard format for write ups for both the schedule, The Southern Sierran, and wherever else write ups might be published.
The Chairman reported that bylaw changes for the DPS were approved by Executive Committee. He also reported that the Executive Committee also decided that leaders who mingle a Chapter-sponsored activity with one run by another, profit-making, organization may have Chapter leadership privileges revoked.
