"I've never climbed a peak I didn't like but this one tops the list," Patty Kline reported after her successful adventure, capped on April Fool's day by a thrilling slog to the summit of Mount Sublime. "The view from the top was awesome. Billions of grains of glittering quartz shimmering, slipping and sliding around me in all directions, but no palms. I dedicate this peak to Ron Jones." Patty would not reveal the exact location of this classic summit because of her concern for the impact the crowds of DPS climbers would have on the area. It is hidden in a field of dunes somewhere in the greater Great Basin area of the southwest within a 500 mile radius of Las Vegas. She reports that it was a 3-day backpack, hauling 24 pounds of water, 3 liters of wine, 7 pounds of assorted cheeses, pates, sushi and other gourmet delicacies. Patty is looking for a string of camels with which to outfit her DPS scheduled exploratory this August when the DPS is nearly inactive.
