So. Guardian Angel Register Notes | ||
There were two register books rescued from below the summit. The earliest book dating from 1975 and covering into 1985 is in bad condition, unbound, with torn & tattered margins, and many unreadable pages. This again raises the question in my mind of what to do with near-historic registers. It seems we loose more of them on desert peaks than in the Sierra. Should we start an "archive" through the offices of our DPS Historian to preserve these older register books as they become worn or as the register containers fill up? What should be done with this register book which is too fragile to be returned to the summit of SGA? The second book found was placed by me on my one-year anniversary climb in October 1986 memorializing the death of Norm Rohn. I shall replace this book on the summit on my next visit to SGA. It contains only 1 entry for 1986, 10 for 1987, 4 for 1988 & 9 from 1989. Incidentally 2/3 of the climbs in both books were done in the fall, 1/3 in the spring & summer-April thru July. --Ron Jones |
