face. There is
some loose rock here. Rappel #2 is located only 100 ft below the first. It is
65 ft and can be down climbed with difficulty on the west side. Rappel #3 is
located at 3900 ft elevation and is an interesting double, two-stage rappel; a
30 ft drop into a 20 ft bowl then dropping immediately into Rappel # 4. 100 ft,
one-half of which is overhanging and a free drop. Rappel #5, a 25 footer, is
250 ft below #4 at 3780 ft. Rappel #6 is a 55 ft vertical drop with some loose
rock. #7 is a 35 foot drop, 300 ft below the previous rappel. #8 is located 100
ft below #7 and is an overhanging 25 ft drop. Finally, the last drop, The Grand
Daddy" is at 3260 ft. There is a 12 ft drop into a small slot and then a 155 ft
vertical rappel. The face is perfectly smooth and water polished with no loose
rock. This rappel can be passed on the north side. It is a 30 minute hike to
the canyon mouth and another hour to the cars. |
