ANGELES CHAPTER COUNCIL
REPORT The Council Meeting at the Angeles Chapter Headquarters on July 29 was another interesting one. The main topic and only action taken concerned the Backroad Explorers (BRE). The Executive Committee of the Angeles Chapter voted to suspended the present Chair, Bob Jaussaud, and Vice-Chair, John Fulton, of the BRE based on the dissident letters to Cranston and Seymour that were written by the BRE criticizing Sierra Club policy, then representing the Sierra Club all views should be in accord, or it makes our presented front unbelievable. The BRE didn't do this. The Executive Committee asked the Counci to make recommendations for a new Chair and Vice-Chair of the BRE, thus putting the thrust of the BRE back on a course more favorable to the Sierra Club. A temporary new officer, Axel Heller, was appointed to run the trips. At the September Council Meeting the Backroad Explorers will also be present again for the appointment of a new permanent Chair and Vice-Chair. The Council Chair, Robin Ives, adjourned the meeting at 9:30pm. Respectfully submitted, Patty Kline, DPS Council Representative |
