Since forming the new Desert Committee, we have received a number of calls for help for various projects. |

newsletter to be published in the near future. It is said that in a volunteer organization 20% of the people do 80% of the work. Be one of the 20%, or help modify the rule. We all have different views and talents, if one project is not to your taste or talent, pick another. I hope to get a call from you soon! Desert is not the only place that needs your support for protection. Here are some others. Arctic National Wildlife Refuge - If President Bush has his way, the oil companies will be drilling for oil. Write to the following Congressmen: Sen. Richard Bryan (D Nev) bill S279, Sen. William Roth (R Del) bill 539, Rep. Morris Udall (D Ariz) HR 39. Separate letters should be sent to Cranston, and Seymour. World Population Control - call Population Committee, Angeles Chapter. 216-534-2155 or W 213-719-3083. Spotted Owl and old growth forests - call Sierra Club Conservation Committee. Use of driftnets and gill nets - these devices cause wholesale slaughter of sea life - Greenpeace, P0 Box 3720, Washington, DC 20077-7880, also Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Box 7000-5, Redondo Beach, CA 90277. Rainforests - National Wildlife Federation, 1400 Sixteenth St. NW, Washington, DC 20036. When writing Congressmen, the addresses listed below will get the mail to them. |

Those of you who are more serious about conservation, I recommend to subscribe to the magazine "Buzzworm". It is a conservation magazine, and it has very good and well written articles, plus a lot of information about products and organizations. Thank you all for supporting me in letter writing, and on the work parties. Please be as supportive to the new Conservation Chair as you were to me. |
