FEBRUARY 6 MONTHLY MEETING

Our program for our meeting on February 6th has been changed. We are honored to have Margaret Huffman speak on "Native Plants and Native Birds: Made for Each Other." This program will show you how to grow native drought resistant plants in your own yard which in turn attract native birds. Margaret has held several offices in the California Native Plant Society and has been a bird expert for many years. This replaces Dede Gilman's talk of the desert in bloom because of a conflict in her schedule. Refreshments will be served by Frank and Ruth Dobos. Meet at 7:30pm at the Cal Fed S&L, 270 N Vermont Ave at Beverly, LA.

BLM WORK PARTY - DESERT CONSERVATION

23-24 February: Join us to clean up Salt Creek in the Dumont Dunes area near Death Valley. BLM has not come up with specific details, but they are working on it. After work, on Saturday we will have a nice campfire, with refreshments provided by participants. Send sase to leader: Maris Valkass, assistant: Jim Farkas.

Sat. come early to begin preparing your award winning chili while taking breaks in an Amargosa Valley hotspring at our camp site. Chili tasting, campfire & fun Sat. eve. Sunday climb Pyramid. MARCH 6 MONTHLY MEETING

The March 6 program will be a special one given by Edna Erspamer. She will show slides of her trip to Tasmania and Australia. Find out what it is like to "bush walk" in Tasmania and view Mt. Kosiusko, the highest peak on the Australian Continent. Dean and Pat Acheson will serve the refresments. The meeting as usual is at 7:30pm at the Cal Fed S&L, 270 N Vermont Ave at Beverly, LA.
