C. Castle Mountain Cyanide Gold Mine - The San Bernardino County is considering the approval of the operation of the above mine. It is located in the Eastern Mojave National Scenic Area, and its operation would destroy scenery and wildlife habitat. Please write to: Planning Commission, San Bernardino County, 385 N. Arrowhead Ave., San Bernardino, CA, 92415, asking them not to approve it.

The propositions that are supported by the Sierra Club and other environmental organizations are:
Prop. 128 - Big Green omnibus environmental initiative
Prop. 130 - Forests Forever forest protection

At the November meeting I will ask you to write at least one letter supporting one of the issues discussed.

SECRETARY JOHN McCULLY'S REPORT

There really hasn't been too much to report. We hold our second Management Committee meeting late in September and our season's first regular meeting on October 3rd. We will be working on the desert program for our next banquet. Any ideas? I'll report on these meetings in the next issue of the SAGE. We have no new members or emblem holders to report. List finisher #68, Bill somebody-or-other who finished on Tipton May 12th still has not identified himself to me. We have one very old change of telephone to report: JOE & BETTY McCOSKER -- 619-223-4007. Check you entry in the membership list printed in the last issue and report any changes or corrections to me.
