From the Chair

For months now I've been dreading the day that I would have to actually sit down and write my first "From the Chair..." article and now the day can be put off no longer. When asked to be the Chairwoman of the DPS my biggest fear was having to actually write this thing and find meaningful and interesting things of which to write.
No great inspirations have come to me as of this date as things have been pretty quiet this spring and summer and all the DPSer's are SPSing it and I have no real news to report. So I think a good beginning will be to introduce my fellow management committee members.
Bill Gray, Vice Chair/Outings, has been seen in all kinds of mountains for an incredible number of years. Whether he be a leader or a follower, I have seen his ever-smiling face cheer on many a new and old corner to the top of a peak. Bill has the pleasure of soliciting, accepting and editing all trips to be lead for the Angeles Chapter Schedule this year. Please say "yes" when he calls.
I look at Bill Tryon our new Treasurer as our "Mystery Guest" as I don't seem to know him very well. He has this mystic, this sultry quietness about him. I think that we need to take some time to get to know Bill a little better this year after all he will have all of our money. Welcome Bill!
Now we've all heard of our new Secretary, John McCully, but many of us have never seen him. John is light of pack, swift of foot and ever in search of the most interesting way to the top. I've been on many a trip that the only time I saw John was flat on his back waking up from the nap he was taking while waiting for everyone else to catch up. Between peak climbs, John will be collecting and notating all of the new emblem holders, list finishers, membership lists, Peak Guide sales, DPS Peak List sales, as well as taking thorough notes of each Management Committee and DPS Monthly meeting.
We have seen our new Program Chair, Patty Kline leading numerous DPS and HPS trips over the years and Patty brings to our management committee her experience as Chairman of the HPS. We must congratulate the DPS election committee for managing to snag her into running and serving for DPS. I have had a preview of
