Letters
DEAR EDITOR,

I STRONGLY OBJECT TO THE USE OF THE DESERT SAGE AND MY SUBSCRIPTION FEE FOR PUBLISHING THE BACKROAD EXPLORERS COMMITTEE SPRING SCHEDULE IN THE FEBRUARY-MARCH SAGE. MORE APPROPRIATELY, THE BRE COMMITTEE SHOULD PLACE ADS IN THE SOUTHERN SIERRAN.

DO NOT CONSIDER THE BRE COMMITTEE AN APPROPRIATE SIERRA CLUB ENTITY DUE TO THEIR CONTINUED LACK OF SUPPORT FOR THE CALIFORNIA DESERT BILLS S11 AND HR 780.

SINCERELY,

BARBARA R. REBER

Dear Barbara:

Hey, that's really neat!

I'm sending a copy of this letter to Dale and Maris to let them know that you are the second person to complete the DPS list twice. It Is particularly noteworthy to have climbed the list the second time using no road which will be closed when the Desert Bill passes.

Something like this is not only an accomplishment, but also a statement and it makes me proud to be a member of the section.

As to your letter, I too am disturbed by the lack of support to the Desert Bill by the BRE. However, I and a majority of the other members of the management committee (The opinion is not unanimous) feel that dissenting opinions within the Sierra club should be tolerated and not subject to unreasonable censure. We felt that the failure to include BRE trips in the Schedule was unfortunate and that we wished to help mend the breach.

Cordially,
Rick
