The DESERT PEAKS 1990 BANQUET celebrating our 48th climbing season will be held Wednesday night, May 2. The festivities this year will be held at the lovely outdoor setting of LAWRY' S CALIFORNIA CENTER located at 570 West Ave 26 in Los Angeles near the intersection of the Pasadena and Golden State Freeways close to Dodger Stadium. Steve Smith will present an outstanding program entitled, "The Anatolian Desert of Turkey and a Climb of Mt Ararat". Free and secure parking is available.
Dinner will be a Mexican Fiesta Buffet featuring gazpacho salad, Mexican blintzes with guacamole, a chicken tostada bar, mexican cornbread, rice, and fresh sliced fruit. This fabulous, festive fiesta dinner will cost only, $18 per setting.
The Desert Peaks Section is sponsoring a photo competition to be held in conjunction with its banquet and many entries are expected in both the color and the black and white print categories. There will be a worthy prize for the winners of each class. Send your photo entries, as many as you wish, together with photo title and your identification to JIM KILBERG, 3371 Cahuenga Blvd West, Los Angeles 90068. Enclose a large self-addressed, stamped envelope if you wish your entries returned. You can bring your entry the night of the banquet if you wish but notify Jim early so he can can have gallery space and an easel for your photo. The social hour will begin at 6:00pm and dinner will be served at 7:30. Come early and browse through the photos and visit the interesting Lawry's shops.
