CERRO PESCADORES

DRIVE/APPROACH: From the border crossing at Mexicali drive SE on Lopez Mateos Blvd., following the signs to San Felipe. As a point of reference, Lopez Mateos Blvd. has a set of.train tracks running down the middle of the street. At 5.0 miles from the border you will come to a traffic light at the Sanchez Taboada traffic circle (Pemex gas station and liquor store on the right). Drive into the traffic circle and bear right at the first major road exiting the circle heading south. In 0.6 miles you will come to a stop sign at the junction of Mexico Highways 2 and 5 (This is the "0" Kilometer post for Hwy 5). Continue straight (south) on Hwy 5 through the intersection toward San Felipe. At 0.1 miles south of Kilometer post 24, directly opposite a wooden sower pole, turn right on a good dirt road heading SW at bearing 225 (See map above). Drive 1.6 miles to a junction, turn right and in 0.1 miles turn left (2WD vehicles can get this far) on a sandy road heading toward the 300+ meter hill with 7 antennae. In 0.7 miles follow a faint track which bears west through the brushy wash in front of and to the right of you, eventually emerging out the other side of the wash on a hard pack surface with clearly visible tire tracks. At this point you will be heading west, paralleling the "seven antennae" hill some 200 yards from its base. Follow the track for approximately 1.4 miles through some very sandy areas to a spot just before the obvious gap in the frontal range of hills. Park here. Somewhere in the last 0.3 to 0.4 miles you will pass between the base of the "seven antennae" hill and a small rock outcropping just north of the hill.
