Dear Mr. Bernard,

I hope Prof. Jackson gave an interesting geology talk last night. You know, I really miss those meetings.

I'm working on & off on the geology of the Utah, Mexico and Arizona peaks -- isn't that what you wanted soonest? HOWEVER, one of the route descriptions in the latest SAGE has such a glaring error that I had to get to you right away - it could get people in trouble.

Having lead the peak earlier this year, I know whereof I speak. Your route sketched on a topo map copy has people going up some AWFUL 3rd, even 4th class stuff on the nasty S. face of Indianhead! I'm enclosing a copy of the Borrego Palm Canyon quad showing the route we used in January. The route description should say, "Hike up Borrego Palm Canyon to about the 1800' contour (near the P in Palm canyon). Exit the canyon to the north, on a slope that becomes the divide between the main canyon and the prominent side canyon. Follow this divide NE to the summit ridge of Indianhead, then follow the summit ridge SE through boulders to the top."

The write-up should also say that the peak is tedious not only because of boulders-but because of more agaves per square yard than I've ever seen in my life.
  Merry Christmas,
Bob
