From The Chair

The interesting thing about the DPS is that we start our new year in the beginning of summer. With the New Year, we have a new Management Committee. As you know, the committee members are elected by you and then we play musical chairs, flip coins and/or draw straws to decide who gets what job for the next year. So far this 87-88 season I will like to introduce the Following:
GENE OLSEN, Vice-chair & Outings. Gene is a DPS list Finisher and knows both the leaders and the peaks very well. The only thing he needs now, is your leadership HELP.
KAREN LEONARD, Treasurer. Karen is changing chairs from last years fine job as Programs Chair. She is already counting the money!
WYNNE BENTI, Secretary. Wynne is a very active leader in many of the hiking and skiing sections. She is always actively taking notes at our meetings.
BOB MICHAEL, Programs. Mr. Michael (no "S"), with his big smile, has already planned the programs for the whole year! Bob will be planning our annual banquet on the first Saturday in May of 1988 as an experience. Perhaps alternating every-other year with Wednesday.
SHERRY HARSH, Council Rep. Former Chair, Sherry will be representing us at the Angeles Chapter Council meetings.
In the non-elected posts we have;
BILL FAULKNER, Conservation Chair. Bill will be taking over for Barbara Reber whom resigned. Barbara will now have more time to spend on the time consuming job as member of the Chapter Executive Committee. Bill is very knowledgeable on conservation issues. If you have a question, Bill will give you a thoughtful answer. Ask him.
ANNA VALKASS, Sage Editors Anna has many new ideas for the Sage. Some, I'm sure you will see as you read this, her first issue.
GERRY HOLLEMAN, Label printer. In this unseen jab, Gerry and his magic computer will be tracking new and old Sage subscribers.

The membership at the DPS, and myself, has not only last years Management Committee to THANK, but also all the past committees for each year they have made improvements far the Section. We can't thank every one by name, except for Barbara Reber, who has been Sage Editor for the past 14-1/2 years. That's a life time for my 14 year old daughter, Julie. For all those years of work we owe Barbara a big debt of gratitude.
