SENATE HEARINGS SET FOR LATE JUNE/EARLY JULY -- LETTERS NEEDED EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALREADY WRITTEN SAVING THE CALIFORIA DESERT

The California Desert is under threat. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power wants new powerline corridors. Our desert already holds the largest Marine Base (29 Palms), largest Air Force Base (Edwards), largest Navel Base (China Lake Navel Weapons Test Station) and second largest Army Base (Camp Irwin) and the military wants more. Off road racing groups want more off road race courses. To protect the East Mojave, it should be made into Mojave National Park. Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Monuments should be enlarged and designated National Parks. The areas that the Bureau of Land Management has surveyed and found qualified as wilderness should be by law designated Wilderness with statutory protection. Senator Cranston has introduced S 7, the California Desert Protection Act, to grant this protection. We need to get Senator Pete Wilson on board as well as your member of Congress. We need letters.
