The Desert Sage
Chairman's Corner January 1986

Happy New Year! I hope that all of you had a good holiday season and that you have returned safely home from your various adventures that many of you embarked upon.

I am happy to announce that three of our members were selected to receive L A Chapter awards for their service to the Sierra Club, and particularly to our Section. Ron Jones was selected for the Outing Leadership Award; Art Blauvelt, and Edna Erspamer will receive the Outings Service Award. Please congratulate them and thank them for their hard work. The presentation will be made at the Awards Banquet on March 1. I am organizing a DPS table for this event, please contact me for reservation.

Bob Michael has agreed to be the new Associate Editor for the Sage. He will write a special section in the Sage, covering various topics such as opinions of members, restaurant reviews and articles of interest to the DPS.

This issue of the Sage contains the proposals that will be listed on the March ballot. Please read them. and submit your pro/con statements (typed for publication) to Maris Valkass, DPS Chairman, for publishing with the ba11ot. Maris must receive input no later than March 7.

Our regular meeting on 5 March is special. There is no entertainment program scheduled because the whole meeting will be devoted to discussion of the ballot issues. Please come and make your views known.

See you there!
