Editor's Note--
The Sunday gathering at the Russian's cabin (see Ron Jones' article for the details) marked the end of the Argus weekend. With that, and the climbs of Argus and Matarango Peaks, over seventy people had celebrated another glorious desert season. It struck me then that no other section has so many fun-loving people gathered together at the same time.
Three of us had left the Russian's cabin early and caught the ridge south to the trailhead. AS we danced along the ridge-one of the few ways to avoid the piles of burro dung--we chatted about the special qualities of the Desert Peaks Section--great company, good climbs, horrible roads, fantasies of space and light. This issue can't bring back all these things, but it can at least remind you of where to find them--John Leonard
