We are all looking forward to our annual banquet at Luminarias on May 1. Joe Wankum has planned an excellent program on the Manly Party trek through Death Valley in the 1850's. Our speaker will be LeRoy Johnson, historian, author and lecturer. Of course we will have our usual great raffle and the excellent DPS camaraderie.
The DPS T-shirts are available and have been a great success. We sold out the first 50 in yellow and Randy Bernard reordered both yellow and blue shirts which will be available at the banquet -- a real bargain for six dollars. They're all cotton with the three color DPS emblem.
Ron Jones, of our mountaineering committee, prepared a DPS sign-in sheet which he sends to the leaders before each trip. Included on the sheet is a column identifying non-members. He follows up by sending these people the current Desert Sage. and an invitation to join us at monthly meetings and on more DPS events. We expect a good response!
