DESERT PEAKS SECTION ANNUAL BANQUET, May 2, 1984

The Luminarias Restaurant was again the scene for another outstanding DPS Annual Banquet. Attitude adjustment hour included viewing Edna Erspamer's display of mountain art serigraphs and Bob Greenawalt's exhibit of antique mining stock certificates in addition to the usual socializing.

Following an excellent steak kabob dinner, the program got under way with the Chairman honoring multiple list finishers, plain old one time list finishers, emblem holders and new members. Next to be recognized were the outgoing officers and then outgoing Chair Art Blauvelt bestowed the badge of office (a rather debilitated paper crown) on incoming Chair Chuck Stein. Chuck then introduced the other 1984-5 Management Committee members as follows:

Maris Valkass
Joe Wankum
Jack Koshear
John McCully
-
-
-
Vice Chair/Outings
Program Chair
Secretary
Treasurer

Continuing in their present functions are Bill Bradley and Ron Jones on the Mountaineering Committee, Barbara Reber as Editor of the Desert Sage, and Ron Bartell maintaining the membership roster.

Chuck then presented Art Blauvelt with a Council Rep survival kit consisting of:(1)a string to tie on his finger to remind him to attend Council meetings; (2)a supply of toothpicks to prop his eyelids open during those boriiiiing Council meetings; (3)a notebook and pencil to take voluminous notes. In a more serious vein, Chuck then presented Art with a DPS Past Chair pin.

Appreciation and thanks were expressed to Betty Wallin for design of the banquet Program and to Betty McCosker for arranging and promoting the entire annual banquet.
