The Desert Sage
While doing some armchair buying recently in the 1982 Fall-Winter REI Catalogue, I was charmed by an Art Wolfe design on an advertised 100% cotton T-shirt, You guessed it; the design was as if it were made for the DPS - a great majestic ram. To me, this is a tremendous find for our section, and I have ordered one. I hope it will arrive in time for me to wear it to the next meeting. The shirt is described on page 10 of the catalogue.

As I write this, the weather is cooperating with us in producing a balmy caress for our current DPS outings. Many thanks to all of our leaders for getting us out there. In both the afterglow of past trips and in the anticipation for coming trips, we can pigeonhole such unpleasantries as the incompatibility of American cars and many DPS road-heads. We now enjoy the height of the DPS season, but even so, the summer schedule deadline marches inexorably toward itself - March 7th. Since we do have those peaks that soar into the altitude and are therefore more suitable for summer climbing, and since that schedule includes October and the lower peaks begin to beckon again, leaders get your trips into Harry Brumer, Outings Chairperson.

The Management Committee is planning to publish the membership list with updated status for each member. The bylaws have been approved by the Management Committee and have been submitted to the Chapter. The new bylaws, the new slate of officers, and the Management Committee recommendation to change the composition of the Management Committee will all be presented in the March ballot. Also mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 14 for DPS big event - the annual banquet at Luminaria's.

See you in the desert,
Mary Sue Miller
