The Desert Sage
CHAIRLADY'S CORNER

VI GRASSO

The ChairWith Springtime soon approaching and with a very active trip schedule, what better time to, enjoy the desert at its best and participating in the outings scheduled by the Section -- look for advance trip schedule in the Newsletter and by the time you get this, in the Chapter Schedule too, which leads to the apropos oftrips in general. Vice-Chairman Ron Bartell has reminded outing leaders about the Chapter's Safety regulation: 1) If scheduled leaders, or rated substitutes, do not show up for an outing it must be cancelled outright (not just cancelled as a Sierra Club outing).; 2) Once a trip is listed in a Club publication as a Sierra Club trip, it must go as a Sierra Club trip or be cancelled.

At times subscribers wonder where their Sage Newsletter is. The publishing schedule is: May-July; Aug-Oct; Nov-Dec; Jan-Feb; Mar-Apr. It is mailed out, give or take a few days, after the ending month and in an effort to save on postage, Editor Reber would bring the issue, just before mailing it, to the regular membership meeting. Which brings another apropos: to remind that subscriptions expire March 31st and that renewals go to Secy-Treas. Mary Sue Miller.

The annual banquet event arrangements are well underway. Program Chairman Jon Lutz has engaged naturalist Ruth Simpson, Director of the San Bernardino County Museum who will be our guest speaker. This year the date falls on May 5th, an important date to keep in mind and it will again be held at the beautiful Luininaria's Restaurant. Look for more details and ticket info in Mar-Apr. Newsletter. But mark the date in your calendar!
