1946 Chairman - James 0. Tow

Scheduled trips to Coso, Maturango, New York Butte, Telescope, Waucoba, White, and Kofa. This last outing, led by Parker Severson, over Thanksgiving weekend, first DPS activity away from trans-Sierra desert ranges. Qualifying list still 7 original peaks.

1947: Chairman Freda Walbrecht

10 scheduled trips. First climb of Boundary and Montgomery, led by Niles Werner over Memorial weekend. 35 on Cerro Gordo DPS record turn-out for several years. DPS Emblem designed by Parker Severson - "It occurred to me: that the most fitting symbol to use would be our noble desert animal, the Bighorn." Work started on proposed Guide to Desert Peaks, Harry Greenhood in charge.

1948: Chairman Parker Severson
9 scheduled trips. First scheduled climb of Rabbit, led by Bill Henderson, 25 reaching summit. Chester's ditty "Wild Rabbit" placed in resister. First DPS climb in Sierra - Olancha led in June by Niles Werner. First DPS Triennial Banquet held at Hollywood Athletic Club in May; Parker again - "It was a tremendous c1ambake. The only, important person who wasn't there was the Governor. The principal speaker was Dr. James Bonner of Cal Tech." Qualifying peaks expanded to 18; 6 for emblem including White, New York Butte, Telescope, Rabbit.

1949 - Chairman - Henry Greenhood

11 scheduled trips. First-scheduled climb of Glass Mtn. led by Bill and Marge Henderson. Idyllwild to Palm Springs traverse with bus shuttle led by Henry Greenhood and Tony Gamero. In October, 9 made complete downhill circuit.
