October
Odyssey |
Beyond Nevada's purple ranges
layered with grey We glide on a parallel ribbon toward infinity To lie
down beside a Virgin in her bed Of scalloped canyons colored red
Above the walls Orion stands unmoved since time began Remindind us,
heroic youth, who dare Trespas the Virgin with auburn hair That jealous
gods protect this land And keep it safe from mortal man
Orion fades
and morning sun dissolves the shade Warming thus it so inspires a venture
ever higher And so between us we conspire To seek the source of flowing
life And take the Virgin for a wife
But first we through must pass
narrow walls that hourglass To canyon rims and mesas wide And overcome
the fear inside Of torrents that would wash away All traces of our
escapade
On we climb to find at last From angels that guard the
past: she's free In Zion, heavenly place, We touch her face And in her
eyes we see all of tomorrow's tomorrows Only ours to borrow for a brief
October odyssey. Julie and me. |
