1950: Chairman - Bill Henderson

Birth of DPS Newsletter, edited by Bill Henderson. 41 on Henry Greenhood's Telescope Peak climb in June. Pellisier Flats, Dubois and White over July 4th weekend, John Delmonte and Alden Hilton made both peaks in first DPS "death march". Bill Henderson's Mt Williamson Labor Day trip saw 37 participants make 47 "man-peaks". First trip to Keynot Peak, 14 led up by Bob Bear. 23 new desert peaks scouted.

1951: Chairman - Bob Bear

First edition of mimeographed Desert Peaks Guide soon sold out at 50¢ per copy. Peaks list reached 25 with 7 new additions. Louise Werner's "On The Trail to Picacho del Diablo" in DESERT, March 1951, initiated decade of her fine writings covering section climbs. Second Triennial Banquet at Rainbow Angling Club, Azusa attended by 60, program on Havasupi country by H. A. Edwards of Southwest Museun. Record 52 on Coso-Maturango trip in October led by Polly Connable and Ken Rich. 50 on Niles Werner's Calico Mtns. outing in March. Tony Gamero led Labor Day trip to Mt. Russell on Sierra Crest. Picacho del Diablo conquered twice by non-scheduled DPS parties Louise Werner, Sam Fink, Henry Stege, and 2 others in March, Bob Bear, John Delmonte, and Roy Gorin in May.

l952: Chairman - John Delmonte

5 new peaks (including Picacho del Diablo) raised qualifying list to 30. Record 60 on John Delmonte's Telescope Peak trip in May, 50 reached summit. Niles and Louise Werner led 19 to Arizona's highest point, Mt. Humphreys. Sierra trips to Temple Crag. (Bob Bear) and The Thumb (Lloyd Balsam). Parker Severson took over editorship of Desert Peaks Guide.

1953 Chairman - Lloyd Balsam

Emblem requirements raised to 9 peaks, including Rabbit, Montgomery, New York Butte, and Telescope. Willard Dean led 40 to Little San Bernardinos, 26 climbed Lost Horse Mtn. Bill Henderson's "c1imb-a-thon" of Telescope Peak from floor of Death Valley saw 28 start, only, 4 reach summit - Barbara Lilley, Sam Fink, Dick Woodward, Jim Forlan. 21 followed Niles and Louise Werner up Keynot (this writer's first DPS trip). Newsletter price voted - 25$ per year.
