Twelve of us climbed Baboquivari as a private party on this fine Thanksgiving Day. We started at 0650 and hiked on the good trail to the base of the wall. Just before the 2nd/3rd class part there Is a large boulder where I went on the rough trail to the left but one participant in the middle, who was a few meters behind, went (correctly) on the trail to the right. She had in view a party led by Dave Jurasevich who were ahead of our group, so she got ahead of us and we had some puzzled moments before we found one another.
I went up the 4th class wall trailing a rope and set up a belay. Dan Richter set another belay and we brought up the people with no trouble at all. The crux of this 100' pitch is at the bottom, say from 8' to 20'.
We had a quick lunch on the summit, enjoyed the view, but did not daily because it was cold, particularly for those who wore shorts. We returned to the wall where three people down climbed with a belay and the rest rappeled. We returned to the trailhead at the Baboquivari campground and then briefly visited the Jurasevich group who were staying In the cabin. We stopped at the campground manager's house to pay for our stay but he refused to accept anything. We then drove to Ajo and had dinner at Dago Joe's, a good restaurant that is two miles north of downtown. Most of us slept just north of the Organ Pipe National Monument (OPNM) boundary on the Bates Well Road, our meeting place for the Kino Pk climb on Fri.
We left a good nested can register container and book and removed the old glass Jar.
